About This Installation

There are few natural wonders that create a greater sense of awe than witnessing the flickers of lightning bugs on a dark Michigan night. "The Remembrance of Lightning Bugs" calls attention to this amazing phenomenon. Creating an awareness of the decline of the lightning bugs is also my proposal's intent. My proposal, "The Remembrance of Lightning Bugs" creates a 24-hour installation along Art Path. Dancing white glazed lightning bugs against a black clay tile mural during the day and at night pin points of LED solar lights, emanating from the bugs' abdomen glow, reference the insects at night.
